NATO’s 2022 Senior Communicators Conference took place in Brussels, Belgium on 15 and 16 November 2022.

Over 250 senior communications officials and experts from non-governmental think tanks and civil society from across NATO’s 30 Allies and invitees Finland and Sweden came together to discuss the Alliance’s most pressing communications challenges.

This was the third edition of NATO’s Senior Communicators Conference organised by the Public Diplomacy Division.

The format aims to provide communications leaders in capitals with a deeper understanding of NATO policy priorities as well as opportunities to engage with thought leaders across civil society. It strengthens a growing community of communicators from all 30 Allies and Finland and Sweden to better coordinate and support the Alliance’s work.

Participants discussed communications challenges around Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine, building societal resilience, technology platforms and disinformation, as well as energy security and climate change.

NATO’s Deputy Secretary General, Mircea Geoană, delivered closing remarks at the conference, stressing the long history of the NATO Alliance, the breadth of its work and the importance of effectively communicating it to new generations.
