The hottest year in the history of observations will be 2024. This statement was made by the European Remote Sounding Service of the Earth Copernicus.
According to the report, the average global temperature over the past 10 months of the current goog by 0.71 degrees exceeded the indicator of 1991-2020.
The global average temperature over the past 12 months (from July 2023 to June 2024) was 0.76 degrees Celsius higher than on average for 1991-2020.
“This marks a new milestone in the history of global temperature records,” said Samantha Berges, deputy director of Copernicus.
According to her, the current situation should serve as a catalyst for “increasing the ambitiousness” of the upcoming UN conference to change Cop29 climate in Baku.
