February 23 in Khojaly Central School No. 2 The event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held.
The Ministry of Apinting HaqQin.Az said that the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Milli Majlis, Doctor of Historical Sciences Anar Ottenders, British Writer, Journalist-Inquiryer Yang Pirt, Spouse of the National Hero of Azerbaijan Polad Gashimov – Ophelia Gashimov , Director of Publishing House “Ganun” Shahbaz Hudoglu, Foreign Students and Media Representatives.
On the eve of the event in the yard of the school, 44 trees were planted in honor of the 44-day Patriotic War.
The participants of the event of a minute of silence honored the memory of those who died for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov said that 14 schools were destroyed in Khojaly as a result of inhuman crimes committed by Armenians, 613 people were killed brutally killed, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people. 487 people were injured, 1275 civilians were captured, 150 people were missing.
Touching the topic of victory in the 44th day of the Patriotic War, the Deputy Minister noted that after 30 years, the Azerbaijani people once again demonstrated that the determination to fight for their lands was not broken by achieving the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Thanks to the successful policy of the President, the Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev and the determination of the army, the 44-day Patriotic War ended with a complete victory of Azerbaijan.
In turn, the deputy Anar Odenderov drew attention to a number of facts in the history of Azerbaijan. He noted that Khojaly is not only a tragedy, but also an unforgettable story.
Writer Jan Pirt told about his book “Khojaly Witness of war crimes: Armenia on the dock”. Yang Pirt said that the book includes interviews with witnesses of Khojaly events, materials of international publications about tragedy, comments of foreign researchers, reports of international organizations and rare photos made by foreign photographers.
At the event, a resident of Khojaly, a teacher of Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC) Nammin Ibrahimov, was also performed. At the end of the event, the film “Endless Corridor” about Khojaly Cube was shown.
