In Nigeria, 42 enterprises used to illegally process raw oil are liquidated. This was announced by the representative of the Nigerian army Danzhum John Danjum.
According to him, the army conducted operations against oil smugglers in Bayels, Delta and Rivers.
During the operations, 42 enterprises were destroyed, in addition, 32 small vessels, 12 equipment were captured and 197 thousand liters of oil were confiscated.
The illegal use of oil in the country negatively affects the economy of Nigeria.
Nigerian Senator Nvoko said that in 2023 the country’s losses amounted to more than $ 3 billion due to an increase in the theft of oil and attacks on pipelines in the country.
The detected Nigeria oil reserves amount to approximately 37 billion barrels, that is, 3.1 percent of the world stocks.
Nigeria, which is among the 15 largest countries in the world in raw oil production, is the 8th country with the largest oil reserves in the world and occupies 6th place in terms of oil exports.
