6 People Were Detained In Kazakhstan On Suspicion Of Terrorist Activities

The National Security Committee (KNB) of Kazakhstan announced the detention of suspects in terrorist activities. This was reported on August 3 by the press service of the KNB of the Republic.

“In August of this year, the KNB during the coordination of the prosecutor’s office and the assistance of the police in the city of Almaty, the Karaganda, Turkestan regions and the Ulytau region took measures to counteract terrorism. 5 citizens of Kazakhstan and 1 foreigner were detained, which are adherents of a destructive religious course. They are suspected of the spread of the ideology of hatred and violence, including through social networks, ”the statement said.

The KNB noted that material evidence was discovered and seized, including 3 combat grenades.

Two of the suspects were previously convicted of robbery and theft, the report says.

In relation to detainees, pre -trial investigations are underway under Article 256 of the Criminal Code, added to the KNB.
