Seven years have passed since the beginning of the anti -terrorist operation “Euphrates Shield” conducted by the detachments of the Syrian Liberation Army (SOA) with the support of the Turkish Armed Forces.

Operation “Euphrates Shield” is the first military operation of Soa in the north of Syria. It began on August 24, 2016. The decision on the operation was made by the leadership of Turkey on the basis of Article 51 of the UN Charter, which recognizes the states the right to self-defense.

The University of Gaziantep, by decree of the President of Turkey, operates in higher education in the areas of Gerablus, El-Bab and Aazaz that were cleared of terrorism during the operation “The Euphrates Shield”.

The Ministry of Health of Turkey implements measures aimed at normalizing life in territories purified from terrorists, the provision of the necessary medical services in the framework of humanitarian and technical assistance, as well as minimizing the need to redirect patients from Syria for treatment to Turkey.
