Azertelecom continues the implementation of the fiber -optical infrastructure project “Digital Silk Way”, connecting Europe with Aszia through Azerbaijan.
, in the framework of the large -scale project “Digital Silk Road”, consisting of European, Azerbaijani and Asian segments, a project “Transkaspian fiber -optic cable line” at the bottom of the Caspian Sea between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is also carried out. The operators of this Asian segment of the project – Azertelecom with Azerbaijani and Transtelecom from the Kazakh side – created a joint enterprise of Caspian Fiber Optic Company for the construction and operation of the Transcaspian fiber -optic cable line.
, as part of the project, international consulting companies have already conducted a preliminary technical study of the sea bottom, the technical requirements of the project have been developed and the tender process was completed at the choice of the supplier. Cable routes and the location of cable stations along the coast of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are determined. Construction is planned to be completed in the next two years. The implementation of the underwater cable system is carried out in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement. The length of the Transcaspian fiber -optic cable line along the bottom of the sea will be 380 km, and the speed of information transmission over 16 terates/s
Also, at an accelerated pace, work is underway on the Azerbaijani part of the Digital Silk Road project, which will connect the Asian segment with Europe. Azertelecom, in cooperation with Azerbaijani Railway CJSC, implements the construction of the fiber -optic cable line inside the country in the southern, northern and western directions along the railways. Fertilized cables and other technical equipment necessary for the implementation of the project were delivered. As part of the laying of a cable network with a total length of more than 1000 km, the construction of 110 km (more than 10%) has already been completed. Construction is planned to be completed in mid -2023.
At different stages of the implementation of the Digital Silk Road project, influential international consulting companies such as Detecon Consulting, Dla Piper, Axiom, PwC and others were involved.
The implementation of the project will contribute to the further development of the international image of our country, business environment, economic indicators and positions in international ratings. The project will also allow the transmission of multi -thorough data between Asia and Europe through Azerbaijan.
In 2020, the Global Strategic Infrastructure Leadership Forum in the United States, the project was selected as one of the five best strategic infrastructure projects of Asia.
