With the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, another project was implemented aimed at preserving, developing and promoting the national-spiritual values and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. Prepared as part of the project, the implementation of which began in 2016, a new collection of carpets called “Azərbaycan Xalçası – Ilmələrin Rəqsi” and the book of the same name, will be represented in the center of Heydar Aliyev on June 3.
The art of carpeting in Azerbaijan over the centuries was an integral part of the life and culture of the Azerbaijani people and has survived to this day. As a result of the instructions and concerns of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Vice President, the president of the Heydar Aliyev Mehriban Aliyeva Foundation, a number of important documents in the development of carpet art in Azerbaijan were adopted, various projects were implemented.

Six artists and 14 weavers, led by the people’s artist of Azerbaijan, Eldar Mikailzade, took part in the creation of the new collection. Carpets painted with natural dyes are woven from silk and wool. 170 colors and shades were used here. To get various color shades, the weavers created a new thread of several colors, throwing thin silk threads like hair.
