In Lebanon, a Syrian ship was poured, transporting a “stolen” barley from Ukraine. This was announced by the embassy of Ukraine in Beirut, writes Reuters.
According to the Ukrainian diplomatic mission, the Laodikia Syrian cargo ship, which is under the sanctions of the United States and transporting, according to Ukraine, stolen from the country of barley, was moored in the Lebanese Tripoli.
“The ship arrived from the Crimean port closed for international transport, on board 5,000 tons of barley and 5,000 tons of flour, which, as we suspect, were delivered from Ukrainian stores,” the embassy said. According to them, this is the first case of importing “stolen” grain from Ukraine.
According to sources, the Laodikia ship was originally sent to the port of Tartus in Syria, but after changing the direction.
The day before the arrival of goods to Lebanon, the Ambassador of Ukraine Igor Ostash met with President Lebanon Michel aun and warned the Lebanese leader that the purchase of stolen goods from Russia would “harm bilateral relations.”
Economic Minister Livan Amin Salam said that the country’s customs service and the Ministry of Agriculture are monitoring this issue. According to customs officers, the port of Tripoli did not unload Laodicia because of suspicions that it is transporting stolen goods.
