For ten days, firefighters failed to extinguish the fire that swept the gum array on the south side of the highest Mount Africa Kilimanjaro. This became known on October 31, reports South African radio Sabc.
About 500 firefighters fight fire until they could localize it. It is known that the fire crossed from its epicenter on the southern part of the mountain to the eastern side, gradually approaching Mavenzi.
At the moment, the reasons for what happened are unknown. Local authorities do not exclude intentional arson.
Kilimanjaro – the highest stratovulcan of Africa and the highest point of the continent, is located in the northeast of Tanzania.
