According to HaqQin.az, in February 2021, Emil Abdulov entered into contact with some persons and wanted to spend a large batch of diamonds through customs. For this purpose, he flew to Istanbul, and from there – in Dubai, where he made a deal.

On February 6, Abdulov arrived from Dubai to Istanbul and in a week flew to Baku, where the staff of the main customs of air transport found among his things hidden diamonds, presented the charges under Article 206.3.2 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code and entered into custody .
In his testimony, Emil Abdulov said that she was engaged in selling precious jewelry and for this purpose, drove to Dubai and back. According to him, the sellers of gold and diamonds in Dubai knew him well and even gave him stones on credit. Once again, he went to Dubai to buy diamonds from the Indian Merchant named Ravi:

In his testimony, Abdulov said that many years lived in Moscow, where, together with Sergey, engaged in fruit trading and vegetables. According to him, Sergey had close ties with Ravi – Indian who traded in Dubai with gold and diamonds.
“I know Sergey since 2014. He entrusted me to get diamonds from Ravi. As Ravi knew my friend well, he agreed to the deal. I would send Ravi money through Sergey,” said the accused.
By the court decision, Emil Abdulov sentenced to 5 years in prison with a trial period of two years.
Civil lawsuit on the payment of Abdulov duty for the goods imported without a declaration was partially satisfied due to 63.287 manat, which were withdrawn by detention from the accused and translated into the state budget.
