41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami, who shot the ex-Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, told the police that he allegedly confused the politician with the head of the sect, whom he intended to kill.
During the interrogation, the suspect pleaded guilty, but, as reported by The Mainichi, made a lot of “meaningless statements”. Therefore, the police decided to send him for an examination in order to find out mental legal capacity and the possibility of prosecution.
After the attack of the former prime minister, Nara Medical University was taken to the hospital. Abe’s heart stopped and lungs refused, doctors stated the death of a politician. When detained by the Yamagami, he said that he was dissatisfied with Abe and therefore wanted to kill him. Local media found out that the attacker used to serve in the naval forces of Japan’s self -defense.
