In Ankara on March 3, consultations were held between Turkey and Great Britain dedicated to the situation in Syria.
According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, during negotiations, issues of security, humanitarian aid and economic restoration of the country were discussed.
Consultations were held under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Nukh Yilmaz and the State Minister of the British Foreign Ministry for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan Hamish Falconer.
It is reported that the parties exchanged views on key regional issues, paying special attention to the situation in Syria.
It is noted that the Turkish side presented its assessment of security, humanitarian position and economic situation in the country.
Deputy Minister Yilmaz emphasized that the settlement of the Syrian conflict requires a holistic approach, including support for steps on national reconciliation and restoration of the central government.
In addition, Yilmaz noted that there should be no place for separatist movements in the future of Syria.
Separate attention was paid to the fight against terrorism.
According to Yilmaz, the Syrian authorities demonstrate determination in this matter, and their efforts deserve support.
One of the main discussions concerned sanctions. The Turkish side raised the question of the complete and unconditional lifting of sanctions, primarily those that impede financial flows in Syria and interfere with the restoration of the country’s economy.
