About a month after the start of the war in Ukraine, 300 troops of unit 63354, deploying in Buinaksk (city in the Republic of Dagestan), arbitrarily lay down their weapons and left Ukraine. After returning to Dagestan, they began the procedure for terminating the contract, wrote the newspaper The Moscow Times with reference to two human rights activists.
According to the report, in Ukraine they were in the DPR area and claimed that they had problems with uniforms and weapons, and some of them returned with frostbitten limbs. In Buinaksk, contractors were met as deserters, a meeting was held in the city with the participation of representatives of the authorities, military and prosecutor’s office, and further indicated. Some of them, under the pressure of relatives and local authorities, returned to Ukraine after treatment, the newspaper writes.
The Military Prosecutor’s Office conducts an audit, since the absence of a service may entail criminal liability at the place of service, a military lawyer from Moscow, to whom contractors turned.
