Russian businessman Roman Abramovich will transfer to Ukraine 2.3 billion pounds ($ 2.8 billion), which were helped out for the sale of the Chelsea football club, reports The Telegraph.
Abramovich announced the sale of Chelsea before getting into the sanctions sheet. To issue the sale of the club, Abramovich had to request permission from the British government. Officials controlled the deal so that not a single pound went to the Russian businessman, although Abramovich initially stated that the money from the sale would go to the aid of the victims in Ukraine. 2.5 billion pounds, which the billionaire promised to transfer in favor of the victims of the fighting to Ukraine after the sale of the CHLC club, “hovered” for some time.
Now, according to the British press, the government concludes an agreement with Abramovich according to which the Fund for Assistance to Ukraine will be created, where 2.3 billion pounds will be transferred. The former head of the British Office of the UN UN Children’s Fund Mike Penrose will be headed by the Fund. In the next few weeks, more detailed information should appear on how the fund will be managed and what projects to implement.
