seven months ago Ivo was a smart, cheerful and sport boy. Today, a four-year-old child is seriously ill. For him, every minute is important. But the bureaucracy of the company’s hospital office requires time. Time that Ivo has no more …
According to the German media, in August, the boy has discovered a rare brain tumor – a diffuse globe of the brain trunk (DIPG), which violates or makes it impossible vital functions, such as breathing, speech, swallowing or walking.
Doctors of the University Clinic of Leipzig are trying to slow down the growth of the neoplasm with the help of radiation and chemotherapy. However, there is a medicine that can cure Ivo.
“For two months, we are fighting for him,” says Mother Ivo Olga R. – But everything is in vain, because Ivo is like too small, and we seem to live in that federal land. ” The saving preparation is called “Miglustat”, and for semi-annual therapy with this medicine, the boy requires € 61,000. The total territorial hospital box office (AOK) of Saxony, in which the family is serviced, the money is not in a hurry.
“For example, in Mainz a child with the same diagnosis,” Miglustat “is treated and quite successful! There it is paid. Our doctor drew the attention of AOK to this fact – no sense!” – complains Olga r.
According to German media, the problem arose because: “Miglustat” is at the test stage, and it is recommended to use it only from 12 years. However, attending doctors do not believe that serious adverse reactions can manifest themselves.
