Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Bulkov proposed to perpetuate the memory of the Azerbaijanis who fought on the Leningrad Front during the Great Patriotic War. The meeting discussed issues of strengthening economic and humanitarian cooperation. Bulk reminded that in a few days, January 27, the 78th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade will be celebrated. The governor noted that during the war years, the Azerbaijanis defended Leningrad, as well as representatives of other peoples of the Soviet Union. “He suggested that Bulbul Oglya invited the opportunity to perpetuate the feat of the Azerbaijanis who fought on the Leningrad Front. Such a monument will be a sign of gratitude to St. Petersburg by the Azerbaijani people,” the press service told.

Economic ties and youth forum

At the meeting, Ambassador Polad Bulbul Ogly said that the Azerbaijani side proposes a long-term agreement with St. Petersburg in the economic, scientific and technical and cultural spheres, and also invited the delegation of the city to visit Baku.
Anar Alakbarov, in turn, said that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan prepares several youth forums in 2022. He invited the youth of St. Petersburg to take part in the nearest of these events – it will take place in March.
