He recalled that today in the Türksat campus in the Gölbash region, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the commissioning ceremony of the first domestic communication satellite Türksat 6a.
Altun attracted attention to the fact that with the launch of the Türksat 6A satellite, the Turkish coating area will expand, covering India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. As a result, the number of users who have access to services will increase from 3.5 billion to 5 billion
“This satellite, which will last at least 15 years, is also a confirmation that Turkey is one of the few countries capable of producing communication satellites. As part of our desire to create advanced and leading Turkey in the 21st century, I hope that Türksat 6A will become a symbol of our cosmic achievements and will be very beneficial for our country. I hope that Türksat 6A, which is a symbol of our ideal advanced and leading Turkey in all areas in the Turkish century will benefit our country, ”he added.
On Monday, April 21, the ceremony of commissioning the first Turkish communication satellite Türksat 6a will be held.
The process of developing a satellite Türksat 6A, which has become an important stage in the space studies of Turkey, lasted about ten years. This satellite is the first fully produced using domestic technologies and resources. The satellite was delivered to the United States to SpaceX facilities on June 4, 2024, after successful tests.
The satellite launch took place on July 9, 2024 at 02.30, in Turkish time from the US Air Force base at Cape Canaveral in Florida using the Falcon 9 rocket, SpaceX.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Abdulkadir Uralogla said that on the same day the first signal from the satellite Türksat 6a was successfully accepted.
A satellite weighing 4 tons of 229 kg will work in a geostationary orbit at an altitude of 35,786 km, in a slot of 42 degrees of eastern longitude. Thanks to this, the satellite coverage area will cover not only Turkey, but also India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
After the commissioning of Türksat 6A, the number of satellite services provided by Turkey will increase from 3.5 to more than 5 billion people. It is expected that this also helps to increase the exports of satellite services to the region.
