Administrative Center Of Southern Syrian Province Of Deraa Has Passed Under Control Of Opposition

The administrative center of the Southern Syrian province of Deraa on the border with Jordan has passed under the control of opposition groups after fierce battles with the forces of Assada.

The armed opposition advanced to the city of Deraa, establishing control over many settlements and checkpoints of the Assad regime in rural areas of the province.

Province where the wick of folk resistance caught fire: Deraa

The city of Deraa is of historical significance, since it was one of the places where the resistance of the Bashar al -Assad regime was born during the Civil War, which erupted in Syria in 2011, when the protest actions of the movement requiring freedom for the people were brutally suppressed.

On March 15, 2011, a group of students in Deraa wrote on the wall of the school: “Hey, doctor (Bashar Assad), now it’s your turn,” after which the popular uprising broke out.

Deraa was under the control of the opposition in 2012-2018. Having secured the support of the pro -River terrorist groups and his supporters, the Assad regime strengthened his position and in June 2018 he began a ground attack on Deraa.

In July of the same year, the province completely passed under the control of the Assad regime. After the city has passed under the control of the regime, thousands of opposition and members of their families were forced to migrate to the north of the country.

The situation in Syria

November 27 in the west of the Aleppo province in the north of Syria there were clashes between the forces of the Assad regime and opposing the regime armed groups.

On November 27-28, armed groups rapidly advanced from the western regions of Aleppo to the center and on November 30 established control over most of the city of Aleppo.

November 30, armed groups established control of the city of Khan-Sheikhun and the entire territory of Idlib.

on December five, after fierce battles, the city of Hama passed under the control of the opposition. The groups speaking out against the Bashar Assad regime established control over a number of strategically significant settlements of the province of Homs, who consider the “gate” to Damascus.

The Syrian National Army on December 1 liberated the YPG (Syrian wing PKK) Tall-Ryfat region as part of the Operation Zarya Freedom.
