The President of Senegala and the chairman of the African Union Maki Sal considers it necessary to remove anti -Russian sanctions in the field of international supplies of grain and fertilizers. He stated this on Friday in Sochi after negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The broadcast was conducted by the Russia-24 TV channel.
“Sanctions against Russia aggravated the situation with the supply of grain and fertilizers to Africa countries. We do not have access to them. And this entails consequences in terms of the food security of the continent,” he said. Sal indicated that his country “advocates the conclusion of cereals and fertilizers from the action of anti-Russian sanctions”.
Senegal is highly hopes for the cooperation of Africa countries with Russia. “Russia really played a huge role in the formation of the independence of the African continent. It is in the name of this friendship that I am also here. We have high hopes for our cooperation, including bilateral cooperation of Russia and the African continent, but we are also here and here in order to talk about the crisis [in connection with the situation around Ukraine] and its consequences, ”Sal said.
