The European Airbus aircraft producer has conceived to overtake American competitor Boeing in everything. As Reuters reports, the company plans to create a transport version of the A350 passenger aircraft and oust a long-term leader from the freight air market.
Airbus is already the world’s largest manufacturer of passenger aircraft and hopes that the Internet shopping boom that began in a pandemic will help him augter Boeing in the delivery of goods. The Board of Directors of the European manufacturer supported the commissioning of the A350 truck liner in 2025, but not yet called the customer.
Airbus For several months, informally tried to support the launch of the A350 freight aircraft in addition to the smaller A330, the sale of which is inferior to the popular model Boeing 767.
The main trump card in the struggle for the leadership of Airbus, the material of the new A350 believes. The construction of the liner instead of the traditional metal will consist of a lighter carbon fiber – due to this, fuel consumption will decrease. Especially the winning technology will be in 2028 – after the introduction of strict emission standards from aviation, which can reduce the supply of existing Boeing cargo aircraft.
Because of the pandemic, the demand for international flights fell, and ordering in online stores became much more often – therefore, passenger aircraft had to be converted to transport goods. Economists warn that with the weakening of coronavirus restrictions, the demand for freight transportation will decrease. However, the Director General of Airbus Guillaum Fori is sure that he can adjust the changes. Moreover, in 2020, Boeing predicted the demand for 2430 aircraft, 1500 of which are converted from passenger.
For the first time on plans to dial Boeing in the freight market, Airbus said in March 2021. Boeing did not leave a competitor’s intention without attention. When declaring results for the second quarter 28 July, Dave Calhun’s general director said that Boeing was going to start production of the 777x truck liner production.
