The first nuclear power plant in Turkey – Akkuy in the southern province of Mersin on Thursday, April 27 will receive the status of an object of nuclear energy.
The cooperation agreement between the governments of Turkey and the Russian Federation, which provides for the construction of the Akkhoy nuclear power plant on the Southern coast of Turkey, was signed on May 12, 2010.
Akka NPP is built in the Gulnar area on the South Coast of Turkey on the Russian project, which includes the construction and commissioning of four power units with a VVER-1200 with a total capacity of 4800 MW.
General Customer, the project investor and the owner of the station after the launch – Akkui Nyukleer JSC (Akkuyu Nükleer Anonim şirketi). General designer of the station OJSC – “Atomenergproekt”. The station is built according to the BOO scheme (English Build -COUN -OPREETE, “Stroy – Owste – Manage”). The project provides for the maximum participation of Turkish companies in construction and installation work, as well as companies from other countries.
The power plant after commissioning plans to generate 35 billion kW/h electricity per year, which will cover 10 percent of energy from the general needs of the country.
The estimated period of operation of the Akkui NPP is 60 years, which will subsequently be extended for another 20 years according to the results of control and inspections. The contribution of Akku NPP to the economic development of Turkey is estimated at $ 50 billion.
In the ceremony of the importation of nuclear fuel on April 27, the Video will be attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin.
The first power unit of the station will be involved within a year after the necessary commissioning and approval by the Office of the Office of Atomic Energy of Turkey.
