The chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alain Simonyan, said that the Nemesis Monument opened in Yerevan, dedicated to the killers of the Ottoman political and military leaders and Azerbaijani officials, is not an expression of the country’s foreign policy.
Simonyan, after a meeting with the speaker of the Grand Public Assembly of Turkey (VSST), Mustafa Schentop spoke at a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PACCES)
He noted that the PACES meeting was organized at a high level and expressed condolences to the Turkish people in connection with the victims as a result of earthquakes in Kazakhmanmarash on February 6.
“Despite the difference in the positions of Armenia and Turkey on a number of issues, we hope that this meeting will serve as the basis for establishing the Armenian -Turkish parliamentary dialogue. We should not miss this historical chance,” Simonyan added.
Alain Simonyan emphasized that the decision to establish in Yerevan the “Nemesis Monument” dedicated to the killers of the Ottoman political and military leaders and Azerbaijani officials was adopted by local authorities.
“This is not an expression of the country’s foreign policy. Armenia is a constructive position in the process of normalizing relations with Turkey,” said the chairman of the Armenian parliament.
