Europe is strong, but she needs to learn to better demonstrate this to the United States. This was stated by Estonian President Alan Caris on the program “Esimene Stuudio”.
According to the head of Estonia, Europe is actually a power, but it may not have managed to show it to the White House in the best way.
Caris noted that perhaps Europe is not unnecessary in some issues, which is why “the weakness of European countries are more noticeable on the other side of the ocean.”
“US President Donald Trump is right in this regard, and he spoke about this in his previous (presidential) period, which (Europe) should invest more in defense, and this must be done. In this aspect we (Estonia) are well done, but our country is small and our contribution is small. We must clarify to other [European countries] that this is important,” the president said.
At the same time, Karis does not believe that Europe should act alone.
“NATO departure, the beginning of Europe lining its own army does not correspond to anyone, including America. We do not even have such resources. It is more reasonable to invest in NATO and defense structures that already exist,” Estonia President emphasized.
In addition, Caris said, does not consider Trump’s intention to withdraw American troops from Europe serious.
“to think seriously, this is not in the interests of America. Why should it leave and how it justifies her departure from here, from the eastern flank, which just put it in defense. So I do not think that this is serious. But you need to be prepared,” the president added.
.
According to the Estonian leader, European relations with the United States have not died.
“We know that Trump is a businessman, and if he sees that Europe has something to offer in return, whether it is strength or or will, then I think that this will also work,” the president said.
Europe will have to compensate for the resources of Ukraine
According to Caris, if the United States reduces its support to Ukraine, the drop -down resources will have to reimburse Europe.
“there is no other way, because today the world still comes through the battlefield, as it may seem. And the more military assistance we provide, the fewer the victims will be less but more, because the equipment still decides a lot in the war. If peaceful negotiations will someday begin, Ukraine will be in a stronger position to conduct them,” the president summed up.
