Algeria “harshly” will respond to any attacks to the country’s sovereignty. So the Algeria Foreign Ministry commented on the words of Foreign Minister of Foreign Foreign, Jean-Noel Barro that Algeria “unjustly” demanded that 12 employees of the French consulate leave the country within 48 hours.
The decision was made in response to the “demonstrative arrest” of the Algerian consulate employee in France, which is a “clear violation of diplomatic norms and practices,” the Algeria Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Algerian department also criticized the Minister of Internal Affairs of France Bruno Retayio, noting that he “is engaged in the dirty business exclusively for the sake of personal benefit, has no slightest political understanding and is responsible for the course within which relations between Algeria and France will develop.”
Algeria Foreign Ministry emphasized that the detained employee of the consulate has diplomatic immunity, but the French authorities “treated him as a thief and in a humiliating manner.”
The Algerian department attracted attention to the fact that the incident occurred at a time when relations between Algeria and France began to gain calm after a telephone conversation of the presidents of the two countries and a visit to Algeria Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Any further actions of the Minister of Internal Affairs of France, violating the sovereignty of the country, will meet a “firm and adequate” answer, based on the principle of reciprocity,- summarized the Foreign Ministry of Algeria.
