A meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS was held in the video conference mode, in which Prime Minister Ali Asadov took part. During the meeting, an exchange of views on the agenda was held.
In the course of his speech, A. Asadov expressed confidence that the close contacts at various levels that have developed over many years, as well as the positive experience of joint work, will further contribute to effective cooperation within the CIS.
A. Asadov attracted the attention of members of the Council to the post -conflict situation in the region. Noting that the conflict remained in the past, the Prime Minister once again expressed the commitment of Azerbaijan to the world, stability and predictability.
“Our policy is very open and clear. We are open to a constructive dialogue, joint work with the aim of turning the South Caucasus into a region of peace, cooperation and interaction,” A. Assadov said.
indicating that Armenia adopted five basic principles put forward by the Azerbaijani side in connection with a peace agreement, the Prime Minister said: “These five principles are the basic principles of international law, comply with the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act.”
It was noted that by showing maximum constructivism and goodwill Azerbaijan is ready to normalize relations with Armenia, signing a peace agreement and delimitation of borders. Azerbaijan has already determined the composition of its delegation to develop a peace treaty and the National Commission on Delimitation and Demarration of Borders with Armenia.
At the same time, A. ASADOV noted that Azerbaijan expects the full fulfillment of Armenia obligations undertaken under the framework of a tripartite statement by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia.
It was also noted that despite the ongoing meetings within the framework of the tripartite working group, there is no progress in unlocking economic and transport ties in the region in accordance with paragraph 9 of the Trilateral statement.
A. Asadov added that the official Baku expects serious progress on both issues in the near future and considers it necessary to accept the necessary actions in this direction.
It was emphasized that the opening of transport communications, the creation of an extensive network of transport arteries, including the Zangezur corridor meets the interests of the peoples of all countries of the region.
Members of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS were also informed of large -scale work to restore the lands liberated from the occupation, including the laying of roads and railways, the construction of international airports, and provide these territories with electricity.
The Prime Minister once again assured the meeting participants in the fact that Azerbaijan would further contribute to the strengthening of peace and prosperity in the region.
