Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Assadov explained what caused rising prices for food and medicine in the country.
According to him, malfunctions in global production and dicenships led to an increase in food prices in the world, and inflation in most countries has become two-digit.
“The world economy is threatened with a recession. It is difficult to predict what a global situation will be, but one thing is clear: the world will not be the same as it was until February. Azerbaijan integrated into the world economy is also faced with inflationary pressure. He noted that Azerbaijan imports more than 95% of pharmaceutical products.
“Medicines are imported from Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and other countries. Prices regulation are carried out by the tariff council in accordance with the rules. The last increase in prices by the Council was applied to 277 items of drugs, which is only 2% of The total number of drugs. Of these, 126 items of medicines are imported from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The increase in the prices of medicines imported from these countries was inevitable, ”said the Azerbaijani Prime Minister.
