Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accepted the chairman of the United Committee of the Chiefs of Pakistan Chiefs General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, who is on a visit to Baku.
The head of Azerbaijan noted that General Mirza’s visit opens up opportunities to discuss issues of strong partnership.
Aliyev recalled a successful state visit to Pakistan, which was previously this year, who raised friendly and fraternal relations between countries to a new level. The President emphasized that Azerbaijan and Pakistan always support each other in matters of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Ilham Aliyev also pointed out the prospects for economic cooperation. The head of state said that during his state visit to Pakistan, a statement was made about the possibilities of investing by Azerbaijan in this country of investment in the amount of 2 billion US dollars, and close cooperation in this area may be beneficial for both parties.
Discussing cooperation in defense, the head of state noted the supply of JF-17C fighters for Azerbaijan’s military forces, which, in his opinion, helps to strengthen bilateral interaction in the defense industry.
In turn, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza expressed gratitude for a meeting with the Azerbaijani leader, telling him the best wishes from President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shakhbaz Sharif.
Mirza emphasized that Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan became a “historical milestone” in bilateral relations and noted the contribution of the head of Azerbaijan to the development of the country. He added that the achievement of victory in the Patriotic War and the successes of Azerbaijan in strengthening defense capabilities sent a clear signal about the determination of the country.
Mirza noted that fraternal ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are based on mutual trust and cultural ties, and also conveyed congratulations on the approaching Victory Day, which is also celebrated in Pakistan.
The general emphasized that Azerbaijan supports Pakistan in the Kashmir question, and Pakistan, in turn, is in solidarity with Azerbaijan in his position in relation to Armenia.
