Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accepted the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu.
Aliyev said that the visit of Sergei Shoigu creates a good opportunity to discuss the agenda of bilateral relations and issues representing mutual interest.
The Head of State noted the importance of regular contacts between Azerbaijan and Russia in regional processes.
Having emphasized that bilateral relations are developing successfully, the President of Azerbaijan said that this is manifested in contacts at the highest and other levels, as well as in the implementation of documents and road maps signed between countries, cooperation in the field of security, transport, energy, and military-technical and humanitarian areas.
He emphasized the active work of the intergovernmental commission. The head of state said that in the near future a meeting of this commission will be held in Baku.
Aliyev noted that the other structures of the two countries are also in active contact.
Aliyev, with satisfaction, emphasized the successful implementation of decisions adopted by the political leadership of the two countries, namely the provisions of the declaration “On an allied interaction between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Russian Federation”.
According to the president, relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are an example for some neighboring states.
Aliyev regarded them as an important security factor in the South Caucasus and in a wider region.
Shoigu, in turn, emphasized the successful development of ties between Baku and Moscow in the field of regional security, military-technical, transport, economic areas.
He said that on the agenda of bilateral cooperation there are very important issues that are successfully resolved.
as an example of this, he regarded the implementation of the North-South corridor, noting that in this regard a lot of work is on a tripartite basis.
Sergey Shoigu said his country supports the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The meeting discussed the prospects for cooperation in the format “3+3”.
