In Davos on Thursday, January 19, a meeting was held by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, especially noting the contribution of Azerbaijan to ensuring the energy security of the European Union and its role in the supply of gas to European countries, expressed gratitude for this.
During the conversation, the increasing significance of the Vostok transport corridor was emphasized and its component of the median corridor, an exchange of views on regional issues was carried out.
The head of state informed about the negotiation process to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a peace agreement between the two countries. The President of Azerbaijan emphasized the importance of the negotiation process conducted with the support of the Chairman of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel, expressed Azerbaijan’s readiness to continue negotiations as part of this process.
Ilham Aliyev touched the events taking place on the Lachin -Khankendi road in Azerbaijan, said that Armenia spreads false information that the road is allegedly blocked, thereby trying to mislead the international community. The head of state noted that the illegal operation of the natural resources of Azerbaijan in the territories where Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily deployed caused fair discontent between the Azerbaijani community and civil society organizations.
It was emphasized that at present the road is ensured by the unhindered movement of the necessary humanitarian goods through Russian peacekeepers, the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as civilians and civilian goods, the importance of the withdrawal of criminal elements from these territories was once again noted.
