Almaty: Meeting Of Foreign Ministers In Format “Central Asia – Russia” Took Place In Almaty

In Kazakhstan, in the city of Almaty, the next meeting of foreign ministers in the Central Asia – Russia format was held.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.

In accordance with the agenda of the day, the participants in the meeting considered the implementation of the instructions of the heads of state based on the results of the first Summit “Central Asia – Russia”, held in October 2022 in Astana, discussed the prospects for further interaction within the framework of six -way format, and also exchanged views on topical issues of international and regional topics.

In his speech, Nurtleu noted the significant results achieved by the countries of the region in recent years over the entire spectrum of multifaceted interstate connections. In particular, in 2024, interregional trade amounted to 44.7 billion US dollars, which is 11.3% higher than the 2023 indicator.

As iconic examples of successful cooperation, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan called projects on the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Kazakhstan to the countries of Central Asia, the construction and modernization of electric power facilities, the development of international transport corridors, as well as the reconstruction and expansion of a network of road and railways.

He also emphasized the importance of further consolidation of efforts aimed at disclosing the existing potential, preserving the dynamics of cooperation, the search for new “growth points”, as well as ensuring regional security.

“It is necessary to maintain the strength of partnerships based on trust, mutual respect and general historical proximity,” Nurtleu said.

According to the results of the event, it was announced the completion of the joint work on the preparation of the project of the joint action plan for 2025-2027, which is planned to be submitted for consideration by the heads of state during the second TRF summit.

The parties confirmed the focus on further strengthening the interaction of the CU countries and the Russian Federation within the framework of the “CDE+” format as a stable platform of interregional cooperation, expressing their readiness to focus on strategically significant areas of trade, economic, investment and transport and logistics cooperation.
