Germany Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralph Horlemann on March 31 was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Foreign Ministry, a decisive protest was expressed at the meeting in connection with the publication on the official page of Germany President Frank-Walter Steinmeier as part of his visit to the Armenia of the Flag image, created in the previously occupied territories of Azerbaijan, which is regarded as an encroachment on territorial integrity and the The sovereignty of our country.
It was emphasized that this open political provocation during a visit to the region is unacceptable and the German side should bring public apologies for this post.
It is also noted that this publication of the President of Germany is contrary to statements about the support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, and also is contrary to the ongoing peaceful process.
In addition, it was said that when the statements about the inhabitants of the Karabakh region of Armenian origin, the rights of more than a million Azerbaijanis were ignored, forcibly expelled from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and from Armenia, which is the next manifestation of a biased attitude towards our country.
The German side reminded that Azerbaijan settled the conflict for almost 30 years by military-political means, restored the territorial integrity and historical justice, and the conflict itself remained in the past.
It was emphasized that in Azerbaijan there is no administrative unit called “Nagorny Karabakh” and when mentioning our territories it is necessary to refrain from using nonexistent, politically biased and fictional names.
