Ambassador of Ukraine refused to apologize for words about Chancellor of Germany

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andrei Melnik refused to apologize for calling the German Chancellor Olaf Sholz “offended by the sausage.” This is reported by Spiegel.

“The point is not to apologize, but to make the right policy these days,” said Melnik.

Ukrainian media reminds that in recent weeks in the relationship of Kyiv and Berlin there has been tension due to the refusal to visit President Franc-Valter Steinmeer-the cause of the Ukrainian side called his close relations with Russia. At the same time, Chancellor Olaf Sholts said that he did not want to go to Kyiv until President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visits there, and hinted that he was waiting for steps to meet Ukraine to solve this situation. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andrei Melnik criticized the refusal of the Scholytsa from the visit to Kyiv, noting that he “pretends to be offended by sausage” (German phraseology, which means “pretending to be innocently offended”).

On the eve of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky spoke about his telephone conversation with the President of Germany, which he described as good and constructive.
