Cyber security researchers Threatfabric noticed the similarity of the little-known Android-Trojan Medusa with one of the most dangerous malicors – Flubot, transmits Gazeta.ru.
It is noted that MEDUSA first appeared in 2020 and since then continues to infect more devices. Unlike Flubot, which, as a rule, was limited to Europe, Medusa gained wider distribution.
These viruses are able to steal passwords, bank data and other confidential information from infected smartphones. Malicious software can also access contacts to “pass themselves” by sending SMS to other devices. Experts argue that due to the large number of MEDUSA remote access functions, has become a serious threat to financial organizations.
In order not to become a victim of a malicious program, it is recommended not to move on suspicious links and upload applications only from proven sources.
