Ready -made clothes and textiles are one of the strategic sectors of Turkey in terms of export and employment. This was stated by the head of the Commercial Chamber of Ankara (ATO) Gyursel Baran, speaking at the opening of the International Fair of Clothing and Fashion ((Capital of Fashion Cof’24).
According to the ATO, an international clothing and fashion fair has been opened in Ankara, organized with the support of the Chamber of Commerce of the Turkish capital and the ANKAD clothing manufacturers (AGSD).
Baran noted that finished clothes and textiles are one of the most important areas for both Ankara and for the whole of Turkey as a whole.
“Ready -made clothes and textile products are a strategic sector from the point of view of export and employment. First of all, this is a source of employment. More than half of the jobs falls on women. This makes a significant contribution to the export of our country, production and trade,” said He.
According to the head of the ATO, the finished clothing sector completed 2023 with an export of $ 19.3 billion, contrary to negative trends in world trade.
This sector also contributed to the current balance (the payment balance account, which reflects operations with goods, services and income) thanks to its costs with added, ”he said.
International clothing and fashion fair is first held in the Turkish capital. I sincerely believe that this initiative will continue in the future, ”he added.
The fair combined about 100 leading brands of finished clothing industry and about 400 local and foreign buyers from 22 countries on its site. The fair can be visited until September 7th.
