In American Boston, Brigham and Women’s Hospital has refused to transplanting the heart of 31-year-old DJ Ferguson due to the fact that he did not pass the vaccination from COVID-19. BBC notes that at least it is one of the reasons for refusal.
According to Ferguson’s father, the hospital management has crossed out a young man from the list of patients waiting for the operation, although he urgently needs a transplant. Father Ferguson also said that vaccination contradicts the principles and convictions of his son, and in addition, he simply does not believe in its effectiveness.
Hospital management argues that the decision has followed the policy of the institution. The hospital representative explained that when choosing candidates for a transplant, the immune system of which is already in the oppressed state, the habits of a person, his lifestyle to hospitalization, and more recently vaccination against Kovida, are taken into account. The combination of these factors increases the chances of a successful operation, recovery after it and survival with a new organ.
