The fourth chess tournament of the Champions Chess Tour series, organized by the world champion Magnus Carlsen, has started today.
In the rapid chess competition called Magnus Carlsen Invitational, not only Teymur Rajabov, a regular of the Championship Tour, but also Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, invited by representatives of the best chess player in the world for the first time, take part.
In the first round, Shakhriyar was opposed by Levon Aronian, who not so long ago announced that he was leaving Armenia and would play for the United States. However, until the bureaucratic formalities are met, Aronian is still considered an Armenian chess player.
The game in which Mamedyarov played with black pieces ended with the victory of the Azerbaijani grandmaster.
Teymur Radjabov in the 1st round drew with white against Dutchman Anish Giri.
Recall that Teimour won a brilliant victory over Aronian in the final of the second Champions Chess Tour in early January.
