And Switzerland banned import of Russian coal

The Swiss authorities, following the same decision, are banning the supply of coal from Russia, according to a statement by the Federal Council of Switzerland.

“New restrictive measures include large -scale sanctions against the supply of goods, including a ban on coal imports, as well as goods that are an important source of income for Russia (timber, cement, seafood, caviar),” the press release notes.

It is noted that a ban on exports to Russia will also be introduced that help strengthen Russian industrial potential (for example, industrial robots and certain chemical products).

Recall that the embargo for the supply of coal from Russia to the EU, provided for by the fifth package of sanctions against Russia, will begin to operate in August 2022. The annual volume of coal imports in the EU, according to early April, is 8 billion euros.
