Ankara and Athens are aimed at developing relationships

Greece Prime Minister Kiriacosik abouthotakis on Monday, May 13, will visit Turkey on a visit.

Ankara and Athens have the potential for cooperation in many areas, including healthcare, environmental protection, culture and art, tourism, economics and trade.

As expected, the initiative put forward in 2021 on the formation of a positive agenda in bilateral relations will contribute to the further development of trade ties of the two countries. This agenda is institutionalized through mutual visits and concluded agreements on cooperation.

both Turkey and Greece are popular tourist destinations, and also have a global value in terms of trade and energy supplies. There are also good opportunities for mutual direct investment.

From this point of view, today’s visit is important for strengthening bilateral connections.

In 2023, Turkish export to Greece exceeded $ 2.6 billion. During the period under consideration, Türkiye purchased products from Greece by almost 1.5 billion dollars.

Thus, last year, the foreign trade turnover of Turkey with Greece exceeded $ 4.1 billion. It is currently planned to bring this figure to 10 billion dollars.

Only in the first quarter of this year, more than 168 thousand Greek tourists visited Turkey. This is 28.38 percent more than in the same period of 2023.
