Organization of Islamic cooperation (OIS) makes every effort to support the development of economies and expand cooperation between structure member camps. This was announced by the Secretary General of OIS Hussein Ibrahim Tah, speaking at the 39th meeting of the Permanent Committee of the OII on trade and economic cooperation (̇Sedak), whose work started on Tuesday in Ankara.
OIS Secretary General noted the significance of support provided by the organization of the organization under implemented projects.
Taha once again expressed condolences in connection with the destructive February earthquakes with epicenters in Kamhramanmarash, and also wished for productive work to all the gathered as part of the event.
According to him, the pandemic of coronavirus and the measures taken in connection with it provoked an unprecedented slowdown in economic activity on a global scale.
“In mid -2022, the world gradually began to take control of the pandemic. However, against the backdrop of a military conflict between Ukraine and Russia and the subsequent sanctions, global economic growth slowed down again. Sanctions and conflict not only affected both of these countries, but also Those countries that had close economic ties were especially acutely felt by their consequences. Because of the war, the food supply system was violated. It was greatly affected by the food security of a large number of the Islamic world countries, ”Taha said.
The Secretary General noted that according to the World Bank, the prevailing crisis will lead to the fact that another 75-95 million people will live in poverty. “We are making every effort to support the restoration of the economy and expand economic cooperation between our member states. To this end, many meetings are organized. So, a meeting was held in Qatar on the issue of food security and the development of agriculture. The second meeting will be held in the fourth quarter of 2023 The level of labor ministers. In the post -pandemic period, the meeting will be held at the level of ministers with the aim of supporting sectors related to agriculture, food security and employment, ”said the Secretary General.
According to him, all OIS member countries have already received an invitation to the 18th trading exhibition of the organization. “In November 2023, the 3rd exhibition on tourism will also be in Qatar. I would like to thank our structures for their intensive work. I urge all these structures to support projects so that we can offer support to all members of the OIS. Our efforts to restore and development of the economy will be continued, ”the Secretary General thought.
