Militants of the Taliban movement took control of the city of Lashkaryah – the administrative center of Gilmend Province in the south of Afghanistan, a source in Afghan security services reported.
According to his information, the Taliban introduced the cease-fire mode for 48 hours to evacuate civilians and military from the city, transfers TASS with reference to Agence France-Presse.
In turn, the official representative of Taliban Zabihulla Mujahid said in social networks that Herat, Kandahar Province, Gilmend and Badgis are completely in the hands of the Taliban.
According to the Taliban, during the operation, the militants seized the office of the governor, police headquarters and its other units. Presumably, some soldiers surrendered, someone died.
