The United States and Ukraine agreed on the general provisions of the agreement on rare -earth metals, which does not include security guarantees. It is reported by Associated Press (AP) with reference to three high -ranking Ukrainian officials.
One of the Ukrainian officials said that Kyiv hopes that the signing of the Agreement will ensure the continuation of the extremely necessary American military support.
According to Ukrainian politicians, some technical details of the transactions have not yet been agreed, but the current project does not say anything that Washington will receive about $ 500 billion from rare earth metals in Ukraine in exchange for military assistance.
It is reported that instead of this proposal between the two countries a joint fund will be created, in which Ukraine will invest half income from state resources, such as minerals, oil and gas.
In addition, at the moment the agreement does not contain security guarantees that were necessary for the Ukrainian side.
Ukrainian officials noted that the agreement may be signed on Friday, February 28, during negotiations between the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, safety and military support issues can be discussed.
Earlier, February 3, US President Donald Trump stated an interest in obtaining rare earth elements from Ukraine.
The head of the White House also emphasized that the further support of Ukraine from the United States should be based on mutually beneficial conditions.
Trump also confirmed that he was ready to meet with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on February 28 to discuss the details of the agreement on the supply of rare -earth metals.
