The “Food Security” bill is aimed at introducing a food tracking system, a new approach to the process of registration and coordination of subjects (objects) operating in the food chain, as well as further strengthening state control over the protection of consumer rights in general. This is stated in the statement of the Azerbaijani food security agency.
According to the document, in order to ensure the safety of food and feed products, the draft law provides for the creation of a register of cases that substantiate the danger of this product, which will allow consumers to obtain detailed information about hazardous products and circumstances that determine the danger of these products will play an important role in protecting the consumer’s rights. . The law also defines cases when food and feed are considered dangerous, and prohibits initial production, production, processing and turnover of these products when they are detected. At the same time maintaining the register of claims for such food, the dangerous and availability of this registry for citizens will contribute to strengthening public control.
The bill notes that this support from the public will benefit the common cause and will lead to the creation of more advanced and healthy food security mechanisms. Public control that determines the relationship between the state and civil society will lead to an increase in the transparency and effectiveness of the implementation process, including the implementation of all provisions of the legislation. This process, along with ensuring the rule of law, will create conditions for strengthening the participation of each citizen as a consumer in organizing public control.
Taking into account all these nuances, Azerbaijan’s food security agency calls every member of civil society to be active in public control as a consumer. The Agency also reminded that citizens can report in the “1003 – Call Center” of the leisure or to the relevant law enforcement agencies on the negative situations with which they face in the field of nutrition.
