There are more and more technologies and applications on the market that greatly facilitate the lives of persons with disabilities and expand their autonomy.
In connection with the week of the disabled (May 10-16), the Anadolu agency provides a selection of applications with AI, which help such persons better adapt to life.
So Voice Engine technologies, developed by the American research company Openai, is enough 15-second sample for voiling. The voice generated by artificial intelligence is able to read text hints in the language of the source or other languages on command. AI-model can realistically voice the introduced text, trying to convey the voice and speech features of the speaker as accurately as possible.
Thanks to the ability of Voice Engine, to work on a 15-second sample, Dr. Fatima Mirza, Rohaid Ali (Rohaid Ali) and Konstantina Svokos took advantage Speech because of the vascular tumor of the brain.
Openai developers believe that the technology will be useful for restoring the voice of people who have lost it.
Applications with AI for blind
Another important sphere of application of AI is applications that allow persons with restrictions on the possibilities of viewing access to information. Thanks to the AI and the processing of images, special systems can recognize and describe the surrounding objects, helping disabled people to navigate in space or make purchases without the help of outsiders.
Cameras with AI can recognize people and objects. Similar technologies are used in video surveillance cameras and radars, which allows visually impaired people to identify their environment.
In this context, you can cite telephone applications with AI support, such as “From Your Eyes” or “Be My Eyes”, which unite people with visual impairments and volunteers.
Thanks to “from your your eyes”, developed by a young entrepreneur with visual impairments Zyulal Tannur and its comrades, the changes made by volunteers to the drafts are recognized by the application using machine learning technology.
And the application “Be my eyes” allows you to make video calls between volunteers and people with visual impairments.
The number of applications that make life easier for people with visual impairments also include audiobooks. Many institutions and organizations have long created audiobook archives.
“Talking Library”, created in the National Library, the Main Directorate of Libraries and Publications at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, provides a visually impaired subscribers with the possibility of accessing books voiced by volunteers in accordance with readers with disabilities.
