The Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA) Goshgar Tahmazli met in a video conference format with the head of the Federal Service of Russia in Veterinary and Phytosanitarian Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergey Dankvert, the AQTA press service said.
At the meeting, control measures were discussed during import and export operations in the field of food between Azerbaijan and Russia, laboratory studies of samples taken from exported products of products.
During the conversation, Tahmazli said that in a number of potato products imported from Russia to Azerbaijan, quarantine pests were identified, in connection with which the necessary measures were taken.
It was also noted that during import and export operations in the food sector, cases of falsification of phytosanitary certificates by some business entities were identified. It was emphasized that in such cases, struggle measures are taken in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
The interlocutors noted that the process of integration between the automated food security information system (AQTIS) of the Azerbaijani Safety Information Service and the Federal State Fitting Service of the Federal Service of the Russian Federation for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Survival currently being improved. The implementation of electronic exchange of information will contribute to the efficiency of import and export operations between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Russian Federation, checking the reliability of issued relevant certificates, as well as eliminating cases of falsification in the future.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations in the field of food security, the prospects for joint cooperation, as well as the “Agreement between the Government of the Azerbaijani Republic and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Field of Plant Quarantine” and “Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Safe use of Pesticides and Agro -Himitations” which is planned to be signed. An exchange of views on other issues included on the agenda of bilateral cooperation and representing mutual interest took place. It was noted that even after that, close cooperation with the corresponding constituent entity of the Russian Federation on the terms of mutual trust will continue.
