Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA) turned to entrepreneurs in connection with the Law “On Food Safety”, which will enter into force on January 1, 2023.
The press release, a common structure, notes that the adoption of the law will play an important role in preventing possible threats to the life and health of people, strengthening state control over compliance with the norms and rules related to safety and processing of food products.
emphasizes that the new law provides for the simplification of some administrative procedures as part of the state policy of supporting entrepreneurs, and also forms a legal basis for many innovations in this area.
Aqta calls for each entrepreneur working in the food sector, get acquainted with the provisions of this law and establish his activities in accordance with the requirements of the new law.
It is noted that, in particular, from the New Year, the import of products of foreign food enterprises will be allowed only after the approval of the enterprise itself. The recognition of the equivalence of the approval system for products from some countries will be carried out automatically, for the rest – by evaluation. For the production, processing and circulation of biologically active foods, food and feed additives and natural mineral waters, state registration will be needed. It will be forbidden to write the word “medicinal” on food products, including mineral water – products with such labeling from the New Year cannot be produced and imported. The same will affect the goods on which there is no information in the Azerbaijani language.
For importing food products with a high risk, the requirement will come into force that the products are accompanied by a document confirming their safety.
Registration of food objects related to low -risk products will be carried out automatically. It will be carried out without levying the state fee. The approval will be free for subjects of micro and small businesses, and it will cost 150 manat to subjects of medium and large business. The activities of private laboratories will be approved after passing the qualification tests of AQTI.
