AR President: Energy Security Of Europe Cannot Be Represented Without Azerbaijan And Georgia

European energy security cannot be represented without Azerbaijan and Georgia, said Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev in a joint statement with Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili. He noted that Azerbaijan is currently exporting natural gas to 12 countries, including Georgia, and this export is carried out through Georgia.

According to the head of state, achievements in the transport and communication sector, the construction of new railways and ports created great synergy both in Azerbaijan and Georgia, making them an integral part of the median corridor.

“If today we are talking about the project of the median corridor in the South Caucasus, then this is a corridor that runs through Azerbaijan and Georgia. The volume of goods passing through the territory of our countries is growing every year, and additional steps are taken to increase the volume of these goods,” said Aliyev.

The President of Azerbaijan expressed confidence that the establishment of peace and tranquility in the South Caucasus is the common goal of Baku and Tbilisi. He recalled that for many years the region suffered from conflicts and wars, but expressed the hope that these “black pages” would remain in the past.

“For centuries, our peoples lived in conditions of peace, good neighborliness, fraternity – this is the case now. Interstate relations are at a high level. Georgia and Azerbaijan jointly implemented many important projects that are of great importance for our countries and peoples and wider geography,” Aliyev said.

The Head of State thanked the President of Georgia for the visit: “I am sure that the Azerbaijani people will highly appreciate its decision, because usually the first visit after the election is symbolic in nature, and he was committed to Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister of Georgia also made his first official visit to Azerbaijan. So this has already become an excellent tradition.” “Our connections will develop ascending and henceforth,” concluded President Ilham Aliyev.
