Armenia will have a new constitution

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decree on the beginning of the process of forming the Council on Constitutional Reforms, reports Armenian media.

According to the document, the Council will include the head of the Ministry of Justice (as Chairman), the representative of Armenia at the ECHR, Chairman of the Commission of the National Assembly on State and Legal Issues, the Ombudsman of the Republic, one deputy from each parliamentary faction, one representative from the Supreme Judicial Council , 3 representatives from parties who did not enter parliament, 3 representatives of public organizations registered in Armenia. Also, on the submission of the Head of the Ministry of Justice, 2 representatives (with a deliberative voice) of international organizations operating in Armenia have continuously for 5 years may be included in the Council.

The Council on a competitive basis will form a special commission on constitutional reforms consisting of 5 members. The Commission will include lawyers who have a doctorate of jurisprudence, candidate of legal sciences, or a master’s degree of jurisprudence of foreign countries, possessing at least 7 years of experience in the legal sphere.
