The Main Directorate of Forestry (OGM), which is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, to combat harmful insects last year, produced 825 thousand useful insects in an area of about 180 thousand hectares, which are called “Begily flame” because destruction they cause.
According to the information received by the correspondent of the Anadolu agency (AA) from OGM official representatives, the institution continues the continuous struggle with forest pests.
Since 2002, research has been conducted to combat forest pests that have appeared in connection with global warming and climate change. As part of the fight against these pests, the biological control method is mainly used. As part of this method, 179 thousand 445 hectares of the fight against harmful species in the forests were carried out last year.
, in the framework of biological control in the forests, 38 thousand 116 bird nests were hung, and ants were transplanted at 60 points. In addition, 824 thousand 945 useful insects were produced, which were released on the affected areas. 1445 wire cells are placed in places where a pine beetle was noticed.
12 million 994 thousand TLs on the biological struggle on 69 thousand 271 ha, 10 million 791 thousand TLs for a biotechnical struggle at 55 thousand 445 hectares, 17 million 748 thousand TLs for a mechanical struggle at 53 thousand 961 hectares and 710 thousand TLs for a chemical struggle at 768 hectares. Thus, last year, 42 million 243 thousand lires were spent on the fight against forest pests.
To obtain high -quality scientific data on the state of forests based on national, long -term, large -scale and intensive monitoring, 21,75 studies were conducted in observation areas created throughout the country.

The Main Directorate has established cooperation with 547 villages to protect youth and cultural zones in forest areas. In this regard, 50 million 12 thousand 915 TLs were transferred to the inhabitants of the villages.
