Turkish doctors conduct the overwhelming part of the operations on the meniscisk of the knee joint using the arthroscopy method. This was told by Umut Bektash, a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the Medicana Sağlık group of companies with a network of hospitals in a number of cities in Turkey, where the most experienced medical personnel provide services using the latest technologies in the treatment.
According to him, in the past few decades, the number of diseases of the musculoskeletal system has significantly increased in the world, in particular, diseases of the knee joint. To date, the “gold standard” of the treatment of such diseases is considered arthroscopy – surgical intervention on the joint using a small video camera.
Nowadays, it has become possible to use cells and monitors with high resolution, which made arthroscopy one of the most effective methods for treating knee diseases.
, through a small incision in the joint with a diameter of about 4-5 mm, a miniature fiber -optic camera – arthroscope is introduced inside the joint. The camera transfers the image close -up to the monitor screen on which the doctor can consider the smallest joint structures from the inside. If necessary, the surgeon can immediately restore damaged sections of the joint (damaged meniscus, torn ligament, etc.). The doctor conducts all manipulations under the control of this broadcast.
For each patient, adequate anesthesia is individually selected. Modern technique allows you to do arthroscopy of most joints.
Arthroscopy of the meniscus of the knee joint is an operation that allows you to perform the entire necessary volume of operation through 2-3 skin punctures and after which it is allowed to get up and walk the next day.
According to Bektash, the operation lasts about 15-20 minutes, the patient is under surveillance for another three to four hours, after which he is written out.
The orthopedist traumatologist said that the meniscus is an intra -articular cartilage between the tibia and the femoral, its task is to protect the knee from overload and wear and provide the opportunity to move. Housebug rupture is one of the most common injuries of the knee joint, the doctor says.
Bektash said that physical diagnostic methods and magnetic resonance imaging are very important to diagnose meniscus rupture.
According to him, most often patients with such a problem make a complaint about pain in the knee. “Patients with a hare of meniscus complain of pain from the inner or outside of the knee, and sometimes locking, especially when squatting and lifting and descent,” Bektash explained.
He emphasized that the arthroscopy of the meniscus is so comfortable that after the operation it allows you to get a bandage on the knee.
